In March the Climbing Team at UVA won the 2023 Divisional Championship in both bouldering and ropes climbing, defeating other collegiate teams in Virginia, Maryland, DC, West Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Several athletes were also sent to the National Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado to compete with universities around the country.
In collegiate competitive climbing there are two divisions of competition: recreational and advanced.
Advanced competition tends to center around a difficulty grade of V6+/5.12a for women and V8+/5.12c for men. Recreational difficulty is usually around V4+/5.10c for women and V5+/5.11a for men.
The Climbing Team at UVA will reimburse half of the entry fee for any of the above skill levels! No matter your skill level, we believe that you deserve the opportunity to crush the competition.
